Wedding Bells

April 10th, 2010

Wedding Bells

After months of planning and preparing, the big day finally came! On April 10th, 2010 at South Mountain Park and Preserve in Phoenix, AZ in front of our families and friends, Jillian and I got married! It was a perfect day, and we felt so lucky to have everyone there to share in the celebration. The ceremony was short and sweet, the food was simple and delicious, and the band was rockin' until the park rangers shut us down.

We really couldn't have pulled this off without help from SO many of our friends and families, so a huge thanks needs to go out to all who pitched in. You never really know how much goes into a wedding until you actually get married, and we are lucky enough to have exceptionally talented and generous friends who could contribute to the effort. Our good friend Cameron McLeod was gracious enough to take on the task of wedding photography. and there he was on the big day (and during the entire weekend) putting people in the right places, camera around his neck, capturing light and color and memories. Another one of our friends Patricia Scarborough did an amazing job with the wedding announcements, invitations, and thank you's. She put in a ton of hours finding the right recycled paper, creating the awesome graphic designs, and printing all of it out so that we could focus on other important items. Jillian's bridal bouqet, and the bridesmaid's flowers, were also put together by a friend of ours. Keri Hunter was creative, and brave, enough to try her hand at creating flowers completely out of fabric. What she came up with as simply amazing! A huge thanks to Keri for trying something new, putting in a ton of time, and creating exactly what Jillian was looking for.

Not to mention the help from our wonderful "dog-sitter" Carys

We also couldn't go without mentioning all of the work put in by Jillian's mom and aunts. The twins, Jean and Jan, as well as Aunt Carol and Aunt Helen. They had been helping plan and prepare for months, everything from the table settings and napkins, to a bucketful of flip-flops for people to use. They really went all out in making our wedding day a beautiful celebration. Our friends and other family members from out of town came to Phoenix rip-roarin' and ready to help; picking up odds and ends, helping us set up the park for the big day, delivering kegs, making signs, coordinating carpools, and on and on.... It was an amazing day, and an amazing weekend, and we owe it all to the people we care about most!

Here are some of the pictures from our wedding day...

You two make a beautiful couple! Everyone did such a great job making it fun and successful. Your description of the day/event was right on. We are so thankful of Jill's family for their diligent creative work. We enjoyed our time in Chinle and seeing that part of your world. Now to Roscoe Village!
